Safety
WARNING: The potential of serious injury exists for both the power brush operator and others in the work area (within 50 feet or less from the brush). To protect against any potential hazards before and during rotation of the brush and until rotation stops, operators and others in the area must either wear safety goggles, safety glasses with side shields or full face shields worn over safety glasses along with protective clothing and equipment. The operator must follow all "Maximum Operating Speeds" (MOS) as indicated on the packaging. The operator must follow all common safety practices which reduce the likelihood or severity of physical injury.
To promote promote safety every effort is made to inform users of potential hazards and their responsibilities for safe and proper operation of power brushes and discs. Before starting the brush, inspect it for any damage and note the MOS indicated on the packaging the brush or discs came in. If the no load speed of the power tool is higher than the MOS of the brush do NOT install and use the brush in this power tool. Inspect and "jog" the power tool or machine to make certain the brush is mounted properly and securely, check that all machine guards are in place, that there in no vibration etc. Run the power tool or machinery at operating speed for at least one minute before applying the brush to the work piece. DO NOT STAND IN FRONT OF OR INLINE WITH THE BRUSH. Failure to observe these safety requirements may result in injury.
Safety Requirements:
- Safety Goggles: Safety goggles or full face shields worn over safety glasses with side shields MUST BE WORN BY OPERATORS AND OTHERS IN THE AREA of where the brush is being operated. Comply with the requirements of ANSI 287. (Occupational Eye & Face Protection)
- Guards: Keep all machine guards in place.
- Rotational Speeds: Observe all rotational speed restrictions indicated on the brushes, packaging, labels, or printed in pertinent literature.
- IMPORTANT NOTE: Never exceed the recommended Maximum Operating Speed, Maximum Safe Free Speed RPM, (spinning free with no load), rating of the brush or disc. Never exceed the Maximum Operating Speed (MOS), of the brush or disc as defined on the packaging, under any circumstances.
- Safety Standard: Comply with the Safety Standards of the Industrial Division of the American Brush Manufacturers' Association and the American National Standards Institute.
- Availability of ANSI Standards: ANSI B-165.1, ANSI Z87.1. Copies of these standards are available online, at public libraries and from the American National Standards Institute, Inc (ANSI), 11 West 42nd Street, New York, NY 10036 or from the American Brush Manufacturers' Association, 2111 Plum Street, Ste 274, Aurora, IL 60506 (Bl65.1 only)
- Protective Equipment: All appropriate protective clothing and equipment such as gloves, safety glasses, facemask, respirator etc., must be used where the possibility of injury exists that can be prevented by using such clothing or equipment.
